Rocco's Angel Bday

Rocco's 104th Bday!

Celebrating the life and legacy of Rocco J. Moretto, this event honors a true American hero on what would have been his 104th birthday.

A lifelong resident of Astoria, New York, Rocco was a decorated World War II veteran of the 1st Infantry Division ("The Big Red One"). He was one of only two men in his 219-man unit to survive 11 months of continuous combat—from the harrowing landings at Omaha Beach on D-Day to the freezing foxholes of the Battle of the Bulge—without being wounded or captured.

Beyond his military service, Rocco was a pillar of his community and a devoted member of the VFW Post 2348 , which was officially renamed in his honor in 2013. This celebration serves as a tribute to his "joyful spirit," his resilience, and his unwavering dedication to his fellow veterans.
